John F. Mitchell

John Mitchell is a Bremerton native who graduated from East High School. He graduated from Willamette University in Salem, Oregon, before joining the Navy and serving as an intelligence officer. John graduated with distinction from the University of Puget Sound School of Law in 1975 and began practicing law in Kitsap County in 1976.

John's areas of practice include personal injury matters and insurance coverage cases, landlord-tenant issues, and representing municipal clients. He also does estate planning and engages in a general civil trial practice.

John was a part-time Superior Court Commissioner from 1978 to 1982, and has also served as a judge pro tem in nearly all the courts in Kitsap County. He has been an arbitrator since the mandatory arbitration program was started in the Superior Court for Kitsap County. John has the highest ethical and professional skills rating (AV) available from the Martindale-Hubbell National Rating System.

John serves as general counsel to the Housing Authority of the City of Bremerton, the Port of Kingston, and the Port of Brownsville. He is a member of the Washington State Trial Lawyers Association and the American Trial Lawyers Association. John was a Trustee of Olympic College from 1985 until 1992 and is a past president of the Kitsap County Bar Association and the Bremerton Rotary Club. He is currently a trustee of the Bremer Trust, and is active with the Bremerton Yacht Club and the Admiral Theatre Foundation.
